Do you fund your training through the KMO-portefeuille, the Flemish subsidy for SME training? Then 2026 is the last year in which you can apply. VLAIO has confirmed that the KMO-portefeuille is ending, and the remaining budget for this year may run out quickly.
What has VLAIO decided?
The Flemish government is discontinuing the KMO-portefeuille as part of its budget measures. For applications submitted from 1 January 2027, training can no longer be funded through the KMO-portefeuille. In 2026, applications remain possible, but only as long as VLAIO’s annual budget has not run out. We expect the remaining Flemish budget to be used up quickly.
Can I still get support for a course in 2027?
Yes. If you submit your application in 2026, you can also use it to fund a course that only takes place in 2027. You can then complete your programme up to and including 31 December 2027. This applies to all our courses, including the Stay Tuned subscriptions.
What should you do now?
- Check which courses you or your team are planning, this year and next.
- Book them as soon as possible.
- Submit your subsidy application through VLAIO’s KMO-portefeuille straight afterwards.
If your organisation can make use of the KMO-portefeuille, part of your course fee is refunded as long as the current scheme applies.
