\u201c\u2026 great the data team is able to use all these wonderful techniques, but I still don\u2019t quite understand how they\u2019re making my life easier\u2026\u201d. <\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n As a data team, have you ever wondered:<\/p>\n Don\u2019t get us wrong \u2013 \u2018for sure\u2019 there are organizations where business users get benefits and value from data in a very hands-on manner and where the answers to these questions are positive.\u00a0 Unfortunately, most organizations still have difficulty going beyond the data warehouse and a data lake, a few customer services, and a set of use cases.<\/p>\n Data mesh to the rescue<\/strong><\/p>\n The idea behind the \u201cdata mesh\u201d \u2013 a new way of approaching data and business needs \u2013 originates from the gap between companies’ data strategies (where we usually promise exciting business gains) and the reality in the field.<\/p>\n \u2018Business users are now confronted with new issues due to ever-increasing volumes of data vs. the lack of data available that is easily searched, understood and consumed.\u2019<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n So, is data mesh the solution to go for? It could be, but…<\/p>\n If your business users don\u2019t understand how the efforts and deliverables from the data team can help them, implementing a data mesh architecture will not reach its full potential \u2013 even if they are ok at first with their new \u201cdata products\u201d.<\/p>\n Business users must understand how they can solve their business problems through data \u2013 creating a pull for \u201cdata solutions\u201d instead of the current modus operandi where the data team is pushing out their services and capabilities \u2013 with often little impact on or understanding from the business.<\/p>\n Last but not least \u2013 as part of the business understanding, we also need business involvement \u2013 which can typically be realized by applying data governance.<\/p>\n After hearing the same challenges over and over from within our network, DP-Institute is partnering up with a leading Data Management firm, Data Trust Associates, to offer two courses to a wider audience.<\/p>\n The first step: Change how business users see and collaborate with the Data Team.
